Summer 2023

I thought it was about time I brought you all up to date with what’s been going on. I am delighted to let you know that Vendetta is now available as an e-book and will be available on Amazon from 28th August.

Also last year (May 2022) I decided to take a last tilt at windmills and stand in the local election. I won and became a councillor for Ward 2 Stirlingshire, an area stretching from Strathblane to Fintry. I hadn’t realised how much work was involved if the job was to be done properly nor how much I would enjoy it.

One of the most common comments I received whilst campaigning was the notion that out here in the rural areas of Stirlingshire we were ignored by the council. I agreed. It was one of the reasons I stood for election. There are a dozen delightful villages scattered across the area connected by country roads which leave much to be desired.

To walk, cycle or e-bike along them means risking injury or even death – which sounds melodramatic. The notion of cycling with my grandchildren from Balfron (where I live) to Killearn (where they live) fills me with dread! Yet think how pleasant it would be if we had cycle paths and walkways criss-crossing the whole area, connecting the villages. It would certainly encourage people to be out and about and enjoying our countryside instead of using their cars.

I am cognisant of a simple fact. When a problem is brought to me it may appear to be trivial but for the person involved that problem is of great importance. I always treat it as such and do all that I can to put matters write. The downside to being a Councillor is that I have no time to write. With 20 books I suspect it’s time to hang up my spurs. I am though, still doing a weekly book-signing. On a Sunday I pack up the car and head to the Chatelherault Market near Hamilton which showcases the best of hand-made products from designers and producers across Scotland! Please do drop by and say hello if you are in the area.

A Million Tears will be available as a FREE Kindle download from Friday 25th- Monday 28th August.
